There are things that just feel right – like a cup of hot tea in the morning or a cozy breakfast in the sunshine. And then there are special things that make such moments even more beautiful. For us, that is our new Emaille-Geschirr, which you can discover in our Handelsshop.
Maybe you've already felt the gentle texture of enamel or admired the subtle shine that defines it. But what really makes this material special is the story it tells. Each of our pieces is crafted with elaborate handwork, with much dedication and care. This way, every item becomes a small unique piece that brings joy for a long time.
In this article, we show you how to properly care for your Emaille-Geschirr so it can accompany you for a long time. We address the special features of this traditional material and show you why we at Eulenschnitt have fallen so deeply in love with Emaille.
What makes Emaille so special?
Emaille is a true traditional material with a long history dating back to the Middle Ages. It consists of a glass coating applied to metal and fired at high temperatures. This creates a particularly smooth and durable surface that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical: Emaille is extremely durable, hygienic, and even heat-resistant.
But what we especially love is that Emaille is made by true handcraft. No piece is like another, and the small, charming irregularities make each item unique. Through the elaborate production and attention to detail, our Emaille-Geschirr becomes a faithful companion in your everyday life.
While the Becher and plates are carefully handmade and hung on hooks to dry, these small hooks leave a special fingerprint – tiny holes that indicate genuine craftsmanship at work. For us, it is precisely these small imperfections that Uniqueness highlight and make every piece a favorite.
How to properly care for Emaille-Geschirr
To ensure you enjoy your handcrafted Emaille-Geschirr for a long time, we want to give you a few tips on how to best care for it:
Gentle cleaning
Emaille is easy to care for and durable. Simply use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge for cleaning. However, avoid rough sponges or scouring agents as they could scratch the glossy surface.
Avoid temperature fluctuations
Although Emaille is heat-resistant, it does not like sudden temperature shocks. For example, if you serve hot food on an Emaille plate, let it cool down a bit before washing. This prevents cracks or chipping.
Proper storage
When you don't use your Emaille-Geschirr, you can easily stack it. The space-saving stacking keeps it well protected and ready for the next use. Additionally, Emaille is wonderful for showcasing in open shelves or on a beautifully set table – a real eye-catcher in any kitchen!
