When we look at our skin, we often only see what we can recognize with the naked eye: a surface made up of thousands of pores, which for some is dry and irritated, for others oily and impure, and for others a bit of everything. With creams, serums, and oils, we care for this surface so that it becomes more radiant, firmer, and clearer. And not infrequently, we feel disappointment when all the supposed miracle weapons do not perform the miracles we had hoped for so much.
What we often forget, however, is that the skin is so much more than just a surface. It envelops us, protects us, and lets us feel touches. It is the largest organ of the body and incredibly complex. Everything that happens around us and inside us can therefore influence the properties and appearance of our skin – for example, factors like nutrition and stress, or hormonal fluctuations. And often we are not even aware of this. But it is precisely this awareness of the connection between body and mind that we want to create with our Hello Sue products. Because holistic skincare means for us that we do not just see the skin as a pure surface, but as a mirror of what is happening inside us: “When the soul is well, the body is well too,” says our dear Susanne. “This thought is behind everything we do.”

How can you integrate more mindfulness and self-care into your daily life with the help of our products?
Our care products are primarily designed to give your skin what it needs – for example, intensive moisture retention or natural protection against external environmental influences. Because of course, you can also influence the appearance of your skin by what you apply to it from the outside. Therefore, we place great importance on selecting only high-quality and pure ingredients for our natural cosmetics, all of which are vegan, sustainable, and free from questionable additives.
Equally important to us, however, is to consider your senses and their perception – because with their help, your overall well-being can also be stimulated and increased. In particular, the scents of the essential oils we use for our products play an important role: Through your nasal mucous membranes, these various scents reach directly into your limbic system, which functions as the center of your emotions and is also the seat of feelings, memory, creativity, and motivation. Here, neurochemical substances such as endorphins or serotonin can be released through the smells – also called olfactory stimuli – which in turn can trigger pleasant memories, reduce anxiety and tension, and positively influence your mood. This property is used, for example, by aromatherapy to sustainably influence physical and mental health with the help of essential oils. And for us, this natural and yet unique interplay of externally visible and internally perceptible processes serves as the basis for the special effect of our products: a well-being that truly goes under the skin.
But what do we mean by a well-being that goes under the skin?
“Our oils touch the soul,” explains Susanne, adding with a smile: “If you allow yourself to.” For some of us, this is easier, for others perhaps harder. And yet, according to Susanne, there is something each of us can do to sharpen the perception of our own condition: “When we consciously breathe in and out, we link our perception with mindfulness. We fully give ourselves over to feeling.” A process that does not always succeed overnight but certainly requires patience. And that is completely okay: “It takes repetition for it to manifest. In terms of the oils, this is, for example, the repeated application and perception of the scents as part of a personal routine,” explains Susanne. And she adds with a smile: “Feel inside yourselves and try to find your very own approach.”
We wish you lots of joy and success with this! We are very happy if you share your experiences with us! #hellosuehelloyou
